The Post-Graduation Department of Botany has Affiliation by University of Mysore and established in the academic year 2013-2014. Since from the establishment the department is actively engaged in teaching, research and extensional activities in the area of diversity, conservation and sustainable utilization of agricultural and non-agricultural crops as well as wild plant genetic resource. The department has maintained a very good Botanical Garden "HASIRU HANDARA" which has a wild collection and maintenance of plants with medicinal importance. Department has maintained Botanical Museum with collection of lower plants like algae, fungi, lichens, bryophytes, Pteridophytes and Gymnosperms specimens. The department have maintained the herbariums of endangered plants. The staff members of the department have received training in various fields of research in the national and International Institutions and received awards and prizes. They have been working in different aspects of botanical science and publishing research articles in peer reviewed journals having high Citation Index. The department of Botany is housed in the magnificent Pharmacy Block. The department has good infrastructure class rooms (AV rooms) and well established labs with basic facilities and is supporting the research activities. For Carrier development of students the department will conduct the educational tours to industries, academic organizations and CSIR Research institutes.
