About Zoology Department

Department of Zoology was established in the academic year 1974-1975.The main vision of our department is to enrich the knowledge of animal kingdom and also to provide sound education in basic science, inculate high values through a liberal education, promote research, all over development like health consciousness, environment awareness, wild life conservation etc.

Best practices of our department

1. Detection of blood groups.
2. Advising not to get married among blood relationships to avoid heredity diseases like hemophilia, colour blinders etc.
3. Advising about the first aid to be given at the time of snake bite, heart attaché, epilepsy etc., with hints about artificial breathing.
4. Providing knowledge about vermiculture and harvesting of rain.

The department has well equipped laboratory with the facility of advanced equipments. It has a very good museum, which has a wide collection of specimens and the students can have a live exposure to specimens throughout their course and it has good deparment Library.

Toppers

1. Siddaraju K got 87.8%, awarded 3 Gold medals and one cash prize in April/May-2011.
2. C.N. Shambhavi got 99% awarded 3 Gold medals and 3 cash prize in April/May-2016.
