Department of physics started in the year1973 with two students. Present strength of students around 300. Department vision is to promote the scientific temperament among society and students.Department has well equipped laboratory having equipment’s worth around 10 lakhs. Also department has department library which is used by both staff and students.
We conduct national/state level seminars,guest lecturer programs and seminars by students to enhance the knowledge of students and staff members.To promote scientific knowledge we conduct state level workshop for high school teachers in association with KRVP. Also we conduct syllabus oriented training classes for PUC lecturers. We celebrate Hiroshima day and Ozone day.Project works for preparing experimental boards carried out by our students under the guidance of our staff members. Also we conduct scientific tours and exhibitions to create scientific temperament among students.
Every year endowment scholarships will be given to students who scored maximum marks in physics in occasion of National science day.In our department teaching will be done using PPT presentation, using experimental boards, charts, models etc.
Our students won gold medals at university level. During 2009-10 SHASHIREKHA.Y.N got gold medal, during 2010-11G.B.PALLAVI secured two gold medals and two cash prizes, during 2012-13 NAVYASHREE .M.J. got second rank at university level.
Our future plans is to conduct more and more scientific meals like scientific exhibitions,workshops for high school teachers and students
